(Monday morning marketing meeting notes)
Marketing Ideas:
Artisanal Generators?
Bespoke Engines?
Gourmet Distribution Gear?
Field to Table PowerCore?
Hot Fresh Generators.
Pure Gold.
Adjectives like that don’t seem to evoke the same “enchantment” for natural gas generators as they do with sourdough baguettes or bath bombs. A long time ago, most of the products used in the US were either handmade or made locally. With globalization, an unavoidable reality of designing and building complex products like generators is that it is necessary to utilize components manufactured outside of the USA. While we can’t claim our natural gas generators are 100% USA Made. We can claim that much of our generators are made in the USA, meaning there are various components that originate outside of our assembly facilities in Wyoming and Texas.
Made in the USA? (But Only Certain Parts)
So, what sets Mesa apart from any other generator company? Simple, our generators are built by hand right here. We take a huge pile of parts, some made locally, like our enclosures and some sourced in magical far-off lands (Korea) like our engines, and mash them all together.
Okay to be fair, the process is much more dignified than that. We have multiple teams of highly skilled assembly technicians, engineers, and testing specialists walking every generator down the assembly line. Yes, each generator goes through the same process with actual hands-on, humans at the wheel. No robots, no artificial intelligence, and definitely no shortcuts.
Our Process
What we can accurately say is that our generators are “Assembled in the USA.” Regardless of where the parts originate it is the assembly team here at Mesa doing the work. Assembly is a team of individuals with unique skills and many are experienced enough to take over anywhere in the process. Assembly specialists craft the generators themselves and routinely offer feedback to streamline processes.
There are quality control advisors following the entire build to catch potential issues during assembly. End of line testing is provided by an onsite, load bank operated by a specially trained technician. All these processes are monitored and performed by real people in real time.
Designed in the USA. (Period)
One claim we can make with absolute authority is that every Mesa generator has been designed in the USA. We have an entire team of engineers who do things like think up cooling systems, engine fuel configurations, and even sheet metal designs for sound attenuation.
None of the design or prototyping is outsourced.
Our R&D location includes a full machine shop to build our own parts from designs dreamed up just across the hall. Prototype technicians work beside the engineers when developing a project and many of them eat lunch together. That is how closely they work with each other. No sending drawings to a machine shop, no miscommunication, and a quality product from the people who know it best.
Hand Made
When was the last time you had a product that you could confidently say was assembled by hand, by the people that designed it? In the natural gas generator market, that’s pretty rare.

So maybe bespoke or artisanal is the best way to describe our generators.
But hot and fresh? We prefer responsible and reliable.
