I recently took a visit to one of the institutions that has upheld late night shift workers, food connoisseurs, and college students alike. A façade of brick, an unsightly shade of yellow, and large windows reminiscent of America’s past greeted me from the parking lot while the interior struck a certain Edward Hopper cord in my brain. You probably already guessed it by now, but I was at the World-Famous Waffle House. Cheap food, customers from all walks of life, and late-night coffee, but one thing stuck out to me the most, 24/7 service.
You see, our country is built on these companies that provide all-day service regardless of weather, time, or holidays. Walmart, The Waffle House, 7/11’s, and more, provide a backbone of our society that oftentimes is overlooked. Despite being overlooked, these companies have provided the blueprint for what it means to provide exceptional service in America, which is a time-honored idea that Mesa is proud to follow.
The Waffle House Index
FEMA emergency officials have a storm severity scale that they have lovingly named “The Waffle House Index”. This emergency scale is based on how many Waffle Houses in a certain area are closed due to inclement weather. It takes a lot for a Waffle House to stop operating even for a couple hours (the line cooks will even keep cooking when “World Star” style brawls are happening between the waitstaff and rowdy customers). These traditional values of service are an inspiration to Mesa.
I am not saying that Mesa Power Solutions is quite to the same institutional level of widespread fame that the Waffle House is, but we do operate to similar standards.
- It takes a lot for our service technicians to stop their 24/7 service.
- We have a similar storm severity scale internally that keeps our technicians safe while still maintaining service to our generators (we are still waiting on FEMA to give us a call about changing the emergency preparedness scale to the “Mesa Power Solutions Index”).
- Even when our Marketing and Operations Support team is arguing about who would get a better half marathon time, our service technicians are still out there fixing generators.

The thing about 24/7 service is that no one truly notices it or cares until it disappears. Mesa Power Solutions natural gas generators are meant to provide essential back-up power any time of day, and as a back-up solution, we need back-up technicians to ensure those generators will be there no matter what. If one starts to act strange, our service technicians will be on location repairing that generator as soon as possible.
