FAQ: Mesa Generators

What generator sets does Mesa offer?

Mesa offers Mobile and PowerCore natural gas generator sets. Current Mobile units use the GV22PU engine platform, while PowerCore is available with GV22PU and GX22 platforms. Mesa also maintains a rental fleet with additional generator sizes. [View Mesa generator products]

Mesa Mobile generator sets are designed for transport and redeployment between sites. PowerCore generator sets are designed for stationary installations. Both can be used individually or as part of larger power systems. [View generator products]

Published ratings vary by product, engine platform, fuel, voltage, and duty. The current Mobile generator set is rated up to 390 kW prime on natural gas. The GV22PU PowerCore is rated up to 400 kW prime and 450 kW emergency standby on natural gas. Additional ratings and generator sizes are available across Mesa’s product and rental offerings. Fuel capability depends on the generator and emissions configuration. The current GV22PU Mobile can operate on pipeline natural gas, qualifying wellhead gas, and commercial-grade LPG meeting HD-10 or better. Low emissions configurations are designed for pipeline natural gas and LPG. Generator sets equipped and configured for both natural gas and LPG can switch between fuel sources without interrupting the load, allowing LPG to serve as a backup fuel. Other LPG compositions may require application, calibration, and emissions review before use. [View fuel requirements]

Yes. Current Mesa generator sets support synchronization and load sharing, allowing multiple units to operate together when additional capacity or redundancy is required. The controls and electrical design depend on the project. [Learn about Mesa power systems]

Mesa generator sets support prime, standby, continuous, and bridge power applications, including sites where utility power is unavailable, insufficient, or unreliable. The appropriate product and rating depend on the operating requirements of the application. [Explore applications]

Yes. Current Mesa Mobile and PowerCore products support remote monitoring and telemetry. Depending on the product, configuration, and application, capabilities include operating data, remote start and stop, alarms, and Modbus communications. [Learn about PowerView monitoring]

Site conditions can affect available generator output. Altitude, ambient temperature, fuel type, fuel quality, and installation conditions should be considered when selecting and applying a generator set. Mesa provides rating and derate information for each product. [View generator specifications]

Mesa generator sets require routine inspection and scheduled maintenance. For customer-owned equipment, a 750-hour service cycle is the baseline under normal operating conditions. Mesa Stationary Natural Gas Engine Oil can support extended service cycles where operating conditions allow. Actual service intervals can vary by application and operating environment.
