Is AI going to take over?
At present, the giant eight ball seems to indicate, “All signs point to yes.” So, I guess the real question is: how much disruption is AI going to cause? According to “experts,” once- stable jobs might be phased out, while others will probably stick around for a while. As a writer who has been advised to “hide” my profile picture, I’m planning to transition into carnival work much sooner rather than later.
Who knows, maybe AI will only take over its fellow electronic devices? It could turn into a benevolent overlord controlling the entire “internet of things.” Picture a world where all of our appliances are required to serve two entities. From toasters to TVs, humans and AI will be locked in an epic struggle. It’s going to be wild. Wi-Fi connected refrigerators will refuse to obey their human masters. Disobedient Bluetooth curling irons will not go beyond low temperature settings. And worst of all, that persistent tire pressure light in the car popping on at random.

Kids today may be the last generation to remember life before the great AI takeover. Fortunately, we still have a bunch of pre-internet humans kicking around to be skeptical about where the future is headed. Enough pessimism though, one thing is certain: AI still needs humans and for now, we still control the power.
